Criminal Defense Attorney
Aaron J. Reed is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. He attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for his undergraduate education and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Real Estate from the Lee Business School. While at UNLV, Aaron was a Wide Receiver for the UNLV Football Team, and was a Two-Time Academic All-Mountain West Selection. After graduating from UNLV, Aaron then attended Arizona Summit Law School (formerly Phoenix School of Law) on a merit-based scholarship where he graduated cum laude (top 10% of his class).
Aaron focuses his practice on criminal defense, and has been devoted to this practice since undergraduate. Prior to attending law school, Aaron worked as an intern with the Clark County Public Defender’s Office. While at CCPD, Aaron worked for his uncle, Norman Reed on the homicide team. It was here, while working with his uncle, when Aaron found love for defending people who were not in a position to defend themselves. Aaron credits his uncle for developing his love for criminal law. Sadly, Aaron’s uncle passed away in 2017 after his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
After passing the bar exam, Aaron began doing private contract work for a number of different criminal defense attorneys in Phoenix. While doing contract work, Aaron handled a number of different cases and hearing types, ranging from complex adult felonies to misdemeanor offenses in city court. Aaron also has extensive experience working in the Early Disposition Court (EDC) and the Regional Court Center (RCC) of the Superior Court. Aaron is also licensed to practice in the US Federal District Court for the District of Arizona.
Aaron’s experience at Cates Garvey Law Group is extensive. Aaron has handled cases of all levels, including being the lead attorney on a first-degree premeditated murder case. Aaron handles many serious felonies, including murder, sexual assault, child sex cases, and aggravated assault with deadly weapons. Early in his tenure with Cates Garvey Law Group, Aaron was lead counsel on a case involving a man racially profiled and wrongfully incarcerated based on the police officer’s purposeful misidentification of his client. His client spent six months in jail, and Aaron’s persistence eventually paid off when the State dropped all charges and released his client. Aaron also won a felony jury trial last year involving the possession of over 350 pounds of marijuana. His client was found not guilty on all charges after a week-long jury trial. These types of cases are why Aaron does what he does, and takes pride in his work.
Dealing with the criminal justice system can be very intimidating for anyone, however, Aaron will do everything in his power to ease your mind, and keep you fully informed with regards to your case. Aaron is a dedicated and professional attorney who prides himself on fighting for people’s rights in every situation.
