Dwane Cates is a Phoenix, AZ criminal attorney and founder of the Cates & Garvey Law Group, PLLC.* Mr. Cates founded the firm in 1997. Mr. Cates graduated Summa Cum Laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication with a focus on persuasion. He then attended Arizona State University College of Law where he distinguished himself in oral argument competition and as a participating member of the Trial Advocacy Team. Mr. Cates also has a wealth of life experience ranging from the oil fields of Wyoming to various sales positions in the valley that is extremely valuable in the defense of his diverse clientele in Arizona. Mr. Cates received special media instruction from Fred Francis, the two-time Emmy Award winning journalist who now trains professionals in handling the media. This special training gives Mr. Cates the knowledge to handle high profile cases and crisis communication. Mr. Cates is a nationally recognized expert in criminal law. He regularly appears on national television discussing the hot legal issues and cases of the day. He regularly appears on the Nancy Grace Show on HLN, In Session on TruTV, Happening Now on FOX News, and other cable news shows on CNBC, FOX Business, CNN and local news in Phoenix. He also is a frequent guest on various radio shows around the country discussing various legal topics.
*Mr. Cates is now turning the reins of the firm over to Ryan Garvey for the day to day management of the firm. Mr. Cates is now “Of Counsel” at the firm. He remains at the firm to consult on cases when needed and his valuable experience is applied to all firm cases.
Mr. Cates is now only taking a limited number of major felony cases such as homicides.
